3-year-old girl suffers gunshot wound after child’s father kills her mother
Benton, Arkansas – Police say a 3-year-old girl was shot in Benton and suffered injuries.
After the youngster was taken to a hospital in Little Rock, authorities went to the Country Oaks Apartments at 1309 Country Oaks Drive at 1:30 in the morning to check on her welfare.
Detectives claim that Demontra Hatfield, 39, fatally murdered Krystle Wilder, 28, in their Benton apartment, took the girl with her, and then fled the scene.
The parents of the child, according to Benton police, are Hatfield and Wilder.
Hatfield is accused of several offenses, including first-degree murder for the shooting death of Wilder, abuse of a corpse, certain people’ possession of a firearm, tampering with tangible evidence, and endangering the welfare of a juvenile.
According to Benton Police, the investigation is ongoing and more charges could be filed.
In Little Rock, Hatfield is also being prosecuted for a murder that happened on Monday night in the 128000 block of I-30 and Frontage Road.
Larry Foster, 61, was the victim, according to Little Rock Police.
Hatfield is also accused of capital murder, first-degree domestic violence, and first-degree child endangerment in Little Rock.
The Pulaski County Regional Detention Center is where Hatfield is being detained right now.
