8,000 pounds of food are distributed in Little Rock by the Arkansas MLK Commission
Little Rock, Arkansas – The Arkansas MLK Commission held a free food distribution in Little Rock to commemorate the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Approximately 8,000 pounds of food were delivered from the commission’s Broadway headquarters on a first-come, first-served basis, according to organizers.
According to recent surveys, one in five Arkansans go hungry, and the need is especially great over the holidays. According to the commission, their goal was to organize an occasion that embodies Dr. King’s values of helping others.
Dushun Scarbrough, Executive Director of the Arkansas MLK Commission, says, “It’s a great opportunity to be out here serving on this day as we approach King holiday, and you know realizing that it’s King week as it kicked off on Monday, we are here as we follow Dr. King’s model, which is: remember, celebrate, and act.” “And is one of the great things that we do to follow those noble tenants and all those espoused by Dr. King.”
Throughout the week, the Arkansas Martin Luther King Jr. Commission will host unique events.
