A 13-year-old victim allegedly shot by a former Stone County deputy
Stone County, Arkansas – A 13-year-old was hurt when a former law enforcement officer is suspected of shooting at two teenagers while he was behind jail.
Steven Gill, 60, a former Stone County deputy, is being charged with aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a kid.
The 18-year-old Justin Dycus said that he had been given permission by another family member to fish and that he and his cousin were trying to fish at a pond on the Gill family’s property.
According to Dycus, one of the bullets struck his cousin’s left shoulder. With non-life-threatening wounds, he was transported to Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock, where he is currently healing.
According to Dycus, the bullets barely missed him, but the one that hurt his cousin had the potential to kill or disable him if it had struck just an inch away from the target.
Dycus remarked, “I was terrified.” “Out of everything I’ve experienced, this is the scariest.”
Dycus added that they had previously had a disagreement with Gill overfishing on this area, but he had no idea it would ever get this bad. This was not their first contact with Gill.
The youngsters were within easy sight for Gill to know what he was shooting at, despite the sheriff’s office’s assertion that Gill believed he was shooting at dogs on his property.
The suspect is being held without bond, according to the sheriff, and is scheduled to appear before a court on Tuesday.
He declared that he wished to highlight the efforts made by the sheriff’s office to see that this incident’s justice is done.
