A large crowd attends the downtown BBQ Fest
Jonesboro, Arkansas – On a late September Saturday, Main Street was lined with excellent restaurants and live music.
After a dreary start to the weekend on Friday, September 28, thousands of people flocked to Downtown Jonesboro on Saturday to enjoy the cuisine, music, and shopping.
Patricia Clipps, a recent Jonesboro resident, attended the Downtown Jonesboro BBQ Festival with her sister Rosie Martin, and some were taking it all in for the first time.
Clipps remarked, “I recently moved here and I’m really enjoying it.”
Martin, who also resides in Jonesboro, stated that her favorite part was watching the community come together. She also loved eating, strolling, and people-watching with her sister.
A brother and sister traveled from Tennessee to view their former house. James Wicker and Cliff both received Westside High School diplomas.
“You want to go to Arkansas? I called him,” Cliff remarked, gesturing to his brother. And he replied, “Yes, let’s move on.”
According to the Wicker brothers, barbecue is ingrained in their family.
“We have a strong affinity for barbecue because our grandfather used to grill in Southeast Missouri,” Cliff remarked.
All afternoon, women, men, kids, and pets flocked to downtown, creating another exciting and delectable BBQ festival.
The BBQ Fest has caused all downtown roads to close.
