Benton, Arkansas – With the intention of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, the tallest mountain on the African continent, a veteran from Benton is planning to travel to Africa.

One of the veterans who participated in Operation Desert Storm, Jeff Watts, will be in charge of guiding a group of ten other veterans and first responders on the excursion.

The 29th of July will mark the beginning of their ascent of the snow-capped mountain, and it is anticipated that they will reach the peak by the 4th of August.

“I’m looking forward to the comradery,” Watts said. “To get to hang out with heroes for six days and so it’ll be a cool trip.”

The spirit of individuals who have served in the armed forces is going to be brought to light via the course of this journey.

During the next weekend, Watts will embark on a journey to New York, where he will meet with fellow veterans and first responders from all over the country. They will then embark on their voyage as they make their way to Africa from there.

Kili Climb for a Cause is the name of the group responsible for organizing the climb up the mountain. Sheepdog Impact Assistance is an organization that has the goal of giving back to veterans. The proprietors of Sam’s Furniture in Springdale are also one of the sponsors of this event.
