A yearly vehicle exhibition held by the D.A.R.E. Program
Jonesboro, Arkansas – As part of their annual D.A.R.E. 2 Show Your Ride automobile show, the Jonesboro Police Department and Engine Inc. hosted their second annual event.
There were a wide variety of automobiles on display on Saturday, ranging from sports cars and muscle cars to classics and historical automobiles. According to Lloyd Wofford, CEO of Engine Inc., it is wonderful to be able to make these automobiles available to the general public.
“The fun of having these cars is sharing with other people, if you just leave it in the garage and you’re the only one that looks at it, it doesn’t mean anything. But it’s more fun to let everyone else see it and it’s just fun,” Wofford said.
This automobile show is a benefit to the D.A.R.E. Program, and all of the revenues from it are donated to it. Children are taught the significance of being able to say “no” to drugs and other things, such as bullying, through the D.A.R.E. program, which travels to several schools in the surrounding area.
Officer Mehki Williams, who is one of the primary organizers of the event, believes that it is essential to have a program such as this one.
“It is important that the DARE program is to be established in this community because we want to be able let kids know and warn them about the dangers of drugs and different things that are out here. We would rather for them to hear it from us and let them know that it is bad than from someone who is a stranger to tell them that it is okay for them to do but it’s not,” Williams said.
The event had a variety of activities in addition to the sweet rides and amazing vehicles that were available. These activities included bouncy houses, music, and giveaways. Additionally, there were contests for automobiles that were submitted to the show.
