After a year-long battle with COVID, the “miracle patient” returns to Arkansas
Little Rock, Arkansas – Following a struggle with COVID-19, a Van Buren lady who had been on a respirator for more than a year and had been warned she would not survive, went home on Saturday.
Diana Pease, known as the “miracle patient,” spent six months on a ventilator while receiving care in an Illinois nursing home starting in August 2021.
The 55-year-old was met at a welcome home party at her apartment complex on Monday when she returned to Van Buren from Illinois.
Pease, who is still having difficulty breathing due to scar tissue, exclaimed, “That was great.” It was so moving that I started crying.
Jim Pease, Pease’s spouse, said, “She had a tremendous support group and I respect every one of them.”
