Little Rock, Arkansas – This week, a thirty-year-old daycare center informed parents in writing that it will be closing on December 20.

Many parents, like Sarah Carter, send their kids to the Little Rock Primrose United Methodist Church Child Care Center. She was notified of the center’s closing by letter from the church on Monday.

Carter stated, “I have to interview new daycares this week.” “This afternoon, I have an interview.”

Since the COVID-19 outbreak, PUMC has had difficulties with staffing and enrollment, according to Pastor Heath Williams.

“Enrollment has decreased over the last two years, and there has been a high staff turnover rate,” Williams stated.

He went on to say that there are eight staff members and 22 enrolled youngsters, which is insufficient to maintain operations. Additionally, he acknowledged that the timing of the decision was not optimal.

“They were also informed just before the holidays that they would not be able to keep this job after December 20,” Williams claimed.

However, he stated that he prays for the workers and suggests other daycares to the parents.

“There will be a shift,” Carter stated. Everyone will experience a change as a result. However, Primrose made a suggestion about where to go, so I trust their opinion, so we’ll go try it. All I want is for my children to have a seamless adjustment.
