ALS Association to host Central Arkansas Walk to Defeat ALS
Little Rock, Arkansas – The Central Arkansas Walk to Defeat ALS, which is held annually at War Memorial Stadium, will take place on Saturday, according to the Arkansas Chapter of the ALS Association.
The walk will start at 10 a.m. after registration opens at 9:30 a.m.
“People living with ALS, family members, friends, caregivers, and others impacted by ALS will join the fight to find a cure at the Central Arkansas Walk to Defeat ALS, presented by Simmons Bank and the David J. Cohn “Wishes” Endowment news release said.
According to a press release from the ALS Association, ALS is a motor neuron disease that slowly robs patients of their ability to carry out motor tasks like walking, talking, swallowing, and eventually breathing.
The Central Arkansas Community is attempting to alter that even though there is no recognized treatment.
The Central Arkansas ALS community will join together to mourn those who have passed away, honor a loved one who has the disease and raise awareness and vital financial support for the fight against ALS.
Danny Jarra, a competitor in this year’s competition, received an ALS diagnosis in the fall of 2018.
According to the press release, Danny is a father from Russellville, Arkansas, and a former member of the US navy who served on the USS Dallas submarine before moving on to become a shift manager at Arkansas Nuclear One.
Danny is still optimistic and excited about the FDA’s recent clearance of AMX0035, a new medication for ALS patients.
Registration is available online at www.walktodefeatALS.org or over the phone at (501) 226-2477.
