Little Rock, Arkansas – Healing Waters Outreach Ministry, a longstanding community support organization in Saline County, is looking for help as the new year draws near so that it can keep helping families in 2025.

Over the past 20 years, the nonprofit has expanded to provide weekly meals to hundreds of families, but it is entirely dependent on contributions and does not receive any state or federal money.

“State and federal money are not available to us since they are subject to regulations and limitations. Karen Spears, a Healing Waters volunteer, stated, “We will not abandon God at the door.” “You can come in from Texas, and we’re going to be able to provide and take care of your family.”

Healing Waters Outreach Ministry provides the community with a range of assistance in addition to food, such as living necessities, Christmas presents for kids and household goods. They thanked the organizations that already support their cause, such as Target, Cal Ark, Walmart, and Edward’s Food Giant, but they also acknowledged that there is still a high demand for food, with the organization feeding almost 500 families every week through their Sunday food drives.

“I don’t think that people really realize the need that is out there right now,” Spears stated. “People are struggling when it comes to food and medications, those are the top priorities for families.”

Operating under the tenet of never turning anyone away, the organization expresses gratitude for the support it has received while highlighting the need for more assistance.

“I think asking for money is probably the hardest thing that people do,” Spears stated. “But when you see how much God moves in this building and how much really goes on, it doesn’t touch your heart again, this is just not the place for you.”

Additionally, Healing Waters wants to broaden its menu to include more healthful eating alternatives. “I guess the main prayer that I would have is to be able to add meals and vegetables and fruits,” Spears stated. “These are things that we cannot provide for our families right now.”

On January 5, the first Sunday of the new year, Healing Waters will host its next food drive.
