Arkansas centers host open houses for Adult Education Week
Little Rock, Arkansas – On September 19, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Arkansas Adult Education Centers will host Adult Education Open Houses in honor of National Adult Education and Family Literacy Week.
Attendees will learn about the various training, education, and workforce development programs that the Centers provide at these open houses.
“We think that education is the key to opening up new doors,” Arkansas Adult Education Director Dr. Trenia Miles stated. Sometimes it’s as simple as stepping in and saying, “I need help.” Sometimes that’s the biggest obstacle. Our Open House is intended to make taking that initial step simpler by providing a friendly, relaxed atmosphere in which people are free to learn more about our services.
• Participants will learn about the range of free programs that the Centers provide, such as:
Integrated Education and Job Training: A program that enables adult learners to earn industry-recognized certifications or credentials while improving their basic academic skills.
• GED Test Preparation: Offering support to help individuals earn an Arkansas High School Diploma.
• English Language Acquisition (ELA) Classes: Tailored to help non-native speakers improve English proficiency.
• Workforce Alliance for Growth in the Economy (WAGE™): An employer-driven work-readiness training program designed to equip individuals with essential skills that boost employability
The Arkansas Adult Education encourages everyone who is just one test away from receiving their high school diploma in Arkansas to come to the open house.
Nearly 900 Arkansans have obtained their GEDs since 2021 by passing three of the four required examinations.
“It’s never too late to return to an Adult Education Center,” says Dr. Miles to everyone. We are available to assist you at every turn.
