Arkansas LEARNS idea opposed by teachers at the Capitol
Little Rock, Arkansas – Tuesday night, educators rallied at the Arkansas Capitol to protest Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ Arkansas LEARNS plan.
Knowing that the plan will be discussed by the committee on Wednesday morning, they claim they want to take extra time to analyze particular sections of the plan.
Homeschooling families applaud Arkansas LEARNS, while the larger education establishment is skeptical of the law.
Teachers claim they do not want the idea to harm public schools.
Dr. Jacob Oliva, the education commissioner, stated in the Capitol on Tuesday morning that the plan will not have an impact on public school funding, noting that a significant portion of the plan will be funded by new money.
