Arkansas woman arrested for shooting and injuring a man during a fight in Little Rock on Dec. 31, ongoing investigation

Little Rock, Arkansas – One person was arrested, while other one was hospitalized following a shooting incident that took place in Little Rock on December 31.

According to the local police, the shooting incident that took place in the 5100 block of Asher Avenue, near Leeds Street, around 8:55 p.m. on Friday is still under investigation and more details are expected during the week.

The Little Rock police in a press release said that an officer, traveling east on Asher Avenue, reportedly witnessed a fight among a crowd outside the Super Stop convenience store and gas station.

The officer stopped the patrol car and approached the store. As he was headed to the gas station, the 29-year-old Taz Hayes, who was among the crowd involved in the fight, reportedly fired a gun leaving Kelecia Mayo, 22, injured.

The officer took his gun and fired at Hayes, but she was uninjured. She was immediately arrested.

The victim in the shooting incident suffered serious injuries. As soon as the EMS crews arrived, he was transferred in hospital in serious condition.

Hayes is being charged with first-degree battery and is currently being held in the Pulaski County Jail.

Arkansas State Police were called in to investigate the incident

The identity of the police officer who was involved in the shooting was not released by the department.
