Little Rock, Arkansas – As a winter storm dumped several inches of snow in northern Arkansas on Wednesday afternoon, more than 100,000 customers of various electric companies were left without power.
Heavy wet snow on tree and power wires prompted 108,092 people to lose power around midday on Wednesday, according to PowerOutage.us.
Throughout Northwest Arkansas and the Boston and Ozark Mountains on Tuesday night, there were spells of heavy, wet snowfall that resulted in sizable accumulations. They claimed that snow was also piled high on the Ouachita Mountains’ ridgetops to the south of Fort Smith.
According to 40/29’s Majestic Storm, totals in the River Valley vary from 1″ to 5″, while those in Northwest Arkansas range from 4″ to 7″.
It is anticipated that the snow will start melting on Wednesday with highs in the mid-30s to low-40s.
