As the rate rises, Pine Bluff residents discuss the problems with trash pickup
Pine Bluff, Arkansas – Waste Management’s garbage pick-up services will cost Pine Bluff homeowners 42 cents more on November 1st, following approval by the city council on Monday.
Although she didn’t want it to, Lanette Frazier, who oversees Ward 3, acknowledged that the rate rise was necessary.
For the raise, did I want to sign it? We have to sign it legally, but that’s simply the reality,” Frazier added.
According to her, this increase is part of the contract they have already signed, but some like Will Jenkins, who claims Waste Management is falling overdue on garbage pickups, don’t think it’s worth it.
Jenkins stated, “They had to go out and lease trucks because they had some problems with their trucks and they don’t pick up the garbage on time.” “I know some people who haven’t had their trash picked up in a month.”
Frazier stated that Waste Management had resolved the matter and that the company’s contract expires the next year.
“Their contract expires in November of next year, and we’re hoping to bring in another company,” Frazier stated.
Jenkins is anticipating a new firm, but Waste Management issued a statement expressing gratitude for the chance to serve Pine Bluff residents and adding resources to enhance their service.
“We’ll find someone else, please,” Jenkins replied, adding that their contract is set to expire in a year.
Frazier is encouraging everyone in the Pine Bluff region to keep calling Waste Management to voice their concerns and to report when their trash has not been picked up.
