As the temperature drops, a shelter in Little Rock takes in homeless people

Little Rock, Arkansas – People are waiting in line at the Little Rock Compassion Center as the weather starts to cool down.

Hundreds of people were given a warm place to stay on Sunday, including Michael Mclaurie.
“They provide warmers.” They provide gloves and hats. “They supply clothing,” Mclaurie remarked.

William Holloway, the homeless shelter’s founder and pastor, has been giving individuals a safe refuge for many years. However, he asserted that it is particularly important in the winter.

According to Holloway, “People can freeze to death.” “And you can see people getting their fingers or feet frozen if you’re out in this colder weather and you’re not used to it.”

Their normal regulations can be somewhat bent due to urgent circumstances. The homeless shelter typically has a 30-day in/out policy.

“We break all the rules this time of year,” Holloway remarked. Additionally, it’s straightforward: you can stay in the shelter for as long as you need to.

“A warm place is life-saving for me and others who would otherwise be unsheltered,” said Ricky Lee Teage, who works at the shelter.

Teage warned that if you don’t have the common sense to leave Little Rock, Arkansas, by today, especially by tomorrow night, you could perish there due to the impending weather.

People can stay at the Compassion Center as long as the temperature is below 49 degrees, but admission ends at 10 p.m. every night.
