Little Rock, Arkansas – After Hurricane Helene ravaged a large portion of North Carolina, Booker T. Washington Elementary children discovered a way to give back.

Through the community site coordinator, the school maintains a food bank, and they recently got a sizable contribution of infant formula.

When the community’s neighbors had what they needed, they made the decision to give what was left over to those getting over the storm.

Students expressed their happiness in assisting with loading the truck.

One teacher who made it through Hurricane Katrina saw far more significance in the incident.
It’s sentimental. For me, it’s quite emotional,” EAST Facilitator Tricia Gill remarked. Since this hurricane was just as destructive as Katrina, it is satisfying to be able to return the favor. It simply has a personal significance for me, too.

According to student Elandis Payne, there are several advantages to lending a helping hand.
According to Payne, “what comes around always goes around.” “So you can help others, and eventually, they’ll probably be able to help you too.”

The formula is being driven to North Carolina by volunteers from Lonoke Agriculture engineers, where it will be distributed to hurricane survivors.
