Central Arkansas rooster raises money and awareness
Little Rock, Arkansas – Recently, Brian Love has been spending a lot of time at gas stations.
“I got a little car trouble down in Memphis, and I kind of landed here in Arkansas,” Love said. “Now I’m here.”
The Wisconsin-based rapper has been touring the nation with an unexpected sidekick.
“Get my man here and give him a better life,” Love said. “The place I got him from, they weren’t treating him too good… I figured if I got him, he’ll have the life he’s supposed to live.”
He goes by the name of Sanders, 46. Sanders is an allusion to Colonel Sanders, while 46 is a reference to the Wisconsin street where Love was raised.
“I got serious, and started to love him and became a real pet and a real thing,” Love said.
Not only does Love have 46 Sanders, but the rooster is also dressed in overalls, a necklace, and personalized socks. At petrol stations in Central Arkansas, he is quite a sight.
The $5 fee for pictures was used to repair Love’s truck so that he could return home.
That’s not all, though. He also intends to donate some of the money he gets to the organizations that assisted him.
“I go in every town, and when I see the low-poverty areas, I’ll make a note of it,” Love said. “I do a food drive before I leave.”
It’s a cause close to Love’s heart.
“My dad used to do it, and he passed away,” Love said. “I figured that it kind of like eases me to have a little moment like I’m still doing something for my dad.”
You’d assume someone dealing with automotive problems in a city other than his own would put themselves first, but Love would argue otherwise.
“I’ve been down so many times,” Love said. “I figured negativity can only make it worse.”
Despite the unfavorable circumstances, Love is remaining confident.
“You gotta dream, go for it,” Love said. “I’m having down moments, but still choosing to smile.”
Having a teammate like 46 Sanders makes accomplishing that much simpler.
“Shoutout 46 Sanders for creating this moment,” Love said. “He’s the one that got the attention for me to even say the words that I’m saying today… and the people of Arkansas, I love y’all.”
