Christina Arquette talks ‘The First Step’ documentary
Little Rock, Arkansas – In order to promote a documentary about the efforts being made to reform the criminal justice system in the United States, Christina Arquette was in Arkansas.
Christina, along with her husband David Arquette, executive produce The First Step, which features progressive activist and CNN political commentator Van Jones’ effort to fix a broken system.
“The First Step is an incredible film about Van Jones as he works together with both sides in a bipartisan effort to pass the First Step Act and reduce the federal mass incarceration rates,” Arquette said.
The documentary features familiar faces from both sides of the political and cultural aisle like Vice President Kamala Harris, Kim Kardashian, Sen. Cory Booker, Jared Kushner, and former President Donald Trump.
“It’s a political thriller with a lot of negotiating but you see it from all sides, which is pretty incredible,” she said. “It’s a beautiful thing to see and to document.”
Hosted by the Arkansas Cinema Society, a screening and panel discussion was held on July 8.
