City Year Little Rock to host inaugural Red Jack Luncheon this month
Little Rock, Arkansas – On May 26, City Year Little Rock is set to host its inaugural Red Jacket Luncheon featuring the chief operating officer of the nonprofit organization.
COO John Tupponce is scheduled to speak about the lessons he learned as a public-school classroom teacher, principal, and assistant superintendent, according to the press release.
City Year Little Rock has been serving Central Arkansas students by providing full-time tutors and mentors in their quest to succeed in the classroom since 2004.
The AmeriCorps Members who participate serve nearly 3,400 students in four Little Rock School District schools: Mabelvale Elementary, Coverdale Middle, Mabelvale Middle, and Little Rock Southwest High School.
The release that schools partner with City Year were up to “two-to-three times more likely to improve on math and English assessments.”
On Thursday, May 26 at the Pavilion at Heifer Village, the luncheon will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
