Clinton National Airport anticipates a significant increase in holiday travel
Little Rock, Arkansas – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) expects approximately 80,000 travelers to navigate security at Clinton National Airport during this holiday season.
Cynthia Walker from Little Rock is making her way to Atlanta to visit family for the Christmas holiday.
“I am thrilled, and my mom will be attending for the first time,” Walker stated. “At 72 years old, Gloria Walker is set to embark on her first flying experience.”
Shane Carter, the Director of Public Affairs and Governmental Relations at Clinton National Airport, announced that December 27 and 30 are anticipated to be among the busiest days during the holiday travel season, which includes Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa, across the United States.
Travelers carrying gifts are advised by airport officials to avoid wrapping them, as TSA officers may have to unwrap items for inspection purposes.
In 2023, TSA officers reported a rise in the number of firearms discovered at airport security checkpoints.
Carter noted that this trend persists in Little Rock.
He stressed that firearms, ammunition, and any components related to firearms are prohibited in carry-on luggage.
Nonetheless, these items are allowed in checked luggage provided they are unloaded, securely packed in a hard-sided container with a lock, and declared to the airline.
Carter stated that food can be included in carry-on luggage; however, liquids are restricted to a maximum of 3.4 ounces.
