County authorities issue an armyworm warning
Lawrence County, Arkansas – There is a warning about armyworms being issued by the Lawrence Cooperative Extension to local farmers and growers.
It is possible for armyworms to become invasive and to multiply in enormous numbers in crop fields and pastures.
Bryce Baldridge, an agricultural agent, stated that the worms have the ability to enter and consume crops, particularly crops such as hay.
“They are notorious feeders,” said Baldridge. “If you’re depending on a hay crop, if you have high enough levels, and they get to a really big number, then they’ll have your hay, a big portion of your hay eaten up”
It is recommended by Baldridge that if you discover armyworms in your field, you should contact the county extension office in your area and, if necessary, seek chemical treatment.
