Drivers in Arkansas pay lowest average in the country
Little Rock, Arkansas – According to AAA, Arkansas Weekend Gas Watch, the average price of gas in Arkansas is $3.45 a gallon of regular unleaded fuel on Wednesday. It’s 10 cents less than last week and is 58 cents more per gallon compared to last year.
Out of all the major metropolitan areas surveyed in Arkansas, Pine Bluff drivers are paying the most on average out of everyone at $3.63. Drivers in Jonesboro are paying the least at $3.30 per gallon.
The national average for regular unleaded gas is $3.94, according to AAA Gas Prices. That’s seven cents less compared to last week and 76 cents more compared to last year.
Around the country and in Arkansas stable crude oil can be attributed to a substantial weekly drop in pump prices. Crude oil accounts for 60 percent of what drivers pay when they get gas, and those crude oil prices have fallen to levels unseen since earlier in January this year.
Drivers are changing their habits due to the higher gas prices.
According to a recent AAA survey, nearly two-thirds of drivers did so because of higher gas prices. which makes the demand for gasoline goes down as a result. With many deciding to take road trips, the end of summer leisure travels is still expected to be strong.
“As long as the crude oil market remains stable, pump prices have the potential to continue to fall,” said AAA spokesperson Nick Chabarria. “That’s welcome news for drivers planning end of summer road trips, which remained the preferred method of travel this year despite higher prices.”
According to AAA, Californians are paying the highest average on gas at $5.34.
