Drug trafficking and firearms charges resulted in a Pine Bluff man being sentenced to 15 years in federal prison
Little Rock, Arkansas – A Pine Bluff man found guilty of cocaine trafficking was given a sentence of more than ten years in federal prison.
The 39-year-old Tristan Larandell Lee was sentenced on Tuesday to serve 15 years in federal prison for illegally possessing cocaine with the intent to distribute and for possessing a firearm in furtherance of a federal drug-trafficking crime, according to a release issued by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Arkansas on Wednesday.
According to the press release, an investigation revealed that on March 8, troopers from the Arkansas State Police responded to a report of a car being driven erratically on Interstate 530. Lee was found dozing off in the driver’s seat of the vehicle, according to troopers.
According to officials, after the responding trooper awakened Lee up, Lee tried to start his car and drive away. The trooper removed Lee from the vehicle after he refused to get out, and because of his aggressive actions, the trooper ultimately took Lee into custody.
Following a search of Lee’s vehicle, police reported finding an AR-style rifle with a drum magazine holding 60 rounds, cocaine, heroin, marijuana, various pills, and drug paraphernalia.
Lee was subsequently charged in early June, according to the prosecution, with one count each of possessing cocaine, heroin, and marijuana with the intent to distribute them, one count of possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense, and one count of unlawfully possessing a firearm by a felon.
Lee was sentenced to ten years in prison for possessing cocaine with the purpose to distribute it and five years in prison for using a firearm to advance a drug trafficking offense by United States District Judge Moody. Five years of supervised release were to elapse after the concurrent serving of the sentences.
