Fire at Mississippi County landfill impacts trash pick-up
Little Rock, Arkansas – The city of Blytheville said that it will postpone Friday’s regular garbage route until Monday, April 24, due to a fire at the county dump.
Several personnel were dispatched to the Mississippi County dump on Thursday, April 20 at roughly 4:24 p.m., according to the Osceola fire chief.
It took till 9:00 p.m. to put out the fire.
The fire was extinguished with the assistance of the Keiser and Luxora fire departments.
The fire, however, interfered with trash pickup throughout the county.
The city of Blytheville will be collecting people’s trash on Monday rather than on Friday, according to a post on the city’s Facebook page.
In order to allow individuals to dispose of their waste for free, the landfill did state that it would reopen on Saturday, April 22.
The city of Blytheville said that starting on Friday, April 28, dumpsters will be placed in a number of areas.
