Following heavy weather, winter dangers are still present on Arkansas highways
Little Rock, Arkansas – Arkansas roads are still blanketed in inches of winter precipitation after the terrible winter weather, which presents constant difficulties for drivers.
“On Saturday, the subsidiary roads received a lot of attention, and yesterday [Sunday], the primary routes were completely taken care of. Dave Parker, division head of the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT), says, “I won’t say there won’t be an icy patch here and there on an overpass or exit ramp because we got a lot of snow out there, a lot of snow fell, therefore a lot of moisture as it melts.”
“We are going to be on this thaw, freeze, thaw, freeze, kind of cycle for probably the next night or so.”
According to Parker, because of their decreased capacity to retain heat, bridges, overpasses, and regions with shade are more vulnerable to freezing early.
