In October, Arkansas firefighters fight hundreds of flames
Little Rock, Arkansas – According to officials from Arkansas’ Forestry Emergency Division, firefighters have extinguished around 300 fires in October thus far.
Crews have been fighting fires for the previous few months, according to Robert Murphy, the Arkansas Department of Agriculture’s emergency services director.
“Since October 1, there have been 283 fires spanning slightly more than 3,000 acres in the state of Arkansas, including wood, grass, and wildland fires,” Murphy stated.
According to Murphy, the state’s weather can occasionally make fighting the flames difficult.
Murphy clarified that the number of fires we witness and their intensity of burning are significantly influenced by the dry weather.
He adds that the location and if there is a lot of terrain involved in the fire, in addition to its size, can sometimes affect how long it takes.
