It’s the third time in two weeks that the Jefferson County Quorum Court has failed to approve a 2025 budget
Pine Bluff, Arkansas – To review and vote on the 2025 budget, the Jefferson County Quorum Court convened a special meeting on Monday.
The budget presented by Judge Gerald Robinson’s office was the one under discussion.
Numerous departments, like the sheriff’s office, claim that while the budget significantly reduces their programs, it also compels them to reduce employment.
Three public statements were given three minutes each during the meeting on Monday night.
Everyone is pleading with the court to create a budget that will help the workers by paying them and preserving their jobs.
Employees will not be compensated for the tasks they perform since the county government will remain under shutdown.
The next meeting’s date has not yet been decided.
