Jermall Wright will continue to lead the Little Rock School District
Little Rock, Arkansas – Despite announcing his resignation last month, Little Rock School District Superintendent Jermall Wright will remain with the district.
Following a vote Thursday night to reject Wright’s resignation, LRSD administrators declared in a statement that Wright will continue in his role as superintendent.
The statement said, “Over the last few weeks, the LRSD Board of Education and Superintendent Dr. Jermall Wright have engaged in fruitful, productive, and reflective conversations regarding his August 15th resignation.” “We are pleased to announce that the Board and Dr. Wright will be collaborating to further reimagine LRSD going forward.”
Wright released a message as well, expressing gratitude for the help he had been receiving lately.
“Over the past two years, we’ve made progress in many areas, but there is still so much more to do,” Wright stated. “I am appreciative that the LRSD Board of Education has given me the chance to carry out my efforts to rethink LRSD. The encouragement and gratitude I have gotten from so many of you in the past several weeks is something else I am grateful for.
Wright announced his resignation as superintendent last month in a letter to Michael Mason, the president of the LRSD board.
In 2022, Wright was chosen to serve as the district’s superintendent. Prior to joining LRSD, Wright oversaw the Mississippi Achievement School District as its superintendent.
