Jonesboro’s City and Salvation Army are opening warming centers
Jonesboro, Arkansas – The Salvation Army and the City of Jonesboro want to ensure that everyone keeps warm as evening lows are predicted to go below freezing.
Through Saturday, February 8, the Salvation Army’s overnight warming shelter located at 800 Cate Ave. will remain open. Daily check-in hours are from 4 to 5 p.m. Breakfast is followed by checkout.
At 5:30 p.m., anyone in the community who is in need will get a complimentary hot lunch.
The news release from Monday states that the following community centers would be operational as warming stations during the day:
• Earl Bell Community Center, 1212 S. Church St., 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays, noon-5 p.m. Saturday
• Allen Park Community Center, 3609 Race St., 3:30-9 p.m. weekdays, noon-5 p.m. Saturday
• Jonesboro Youth Community Center, 1421 W. Nettleton Ave., 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays, noon-5 p.m. Saturday
• Parker Park Community Center, 1506 N. Church St., 3:30-9 p.m. weekdays, noon-5 p.m. Saturday
Free transportation to and from the Salvation Army and warming shelters will be offered by Jonesboro Economical Transportation (JET).
