Labor Day Covid-19 report: The number of active cases and hospitalizations drops, 13 deaths reported

While many headed to spend their time with family and friends for the Labor Day weekend, the number of active cases and hospitalizations dropped on Monday, but Arkansas again added nearly 1,000 cases.

According to the latest report issued on Monday, Arkansas added 937 new positive cases in the statistics.

Additionally, Arkansas Department of Health reported 13 Covid-19 related deaths.

Since the start of the pandemic, Arkansas has reported a total of 464,732 cases and 7,070 deaths.

The latest number comes as a slight relief for healthcare workers as the number of active cases dropped by 1,668, now reaching 21,675.

The number of hospitalizations and people on ventilators also dropped. According to the latest report, there are 1,220 people hospitalized, while the number of people on ventilator support is 320.

Washington County added 93 new cases, Pulaski County added 81 new cases and Craighead County added 68 new cases.

This is what Gov. Asa Hutchinson said on Twitter with the report:

Our numbers are lower than last week, as expected. Hospital space has continued to become available over the past few days, but we need to protect ourselves with vaccinations and that also reduces the burden on our health care workers.
