Little Rock, Arkansas – Thanks to a state grant, a nonprofit organization in Little Rock is attempting to alleviate food insecurity.

With the governor’s office and the Arkansas Department of Health awarding Innovative Community Concepts a $10,000 grant, the company intends to launch grocery stores on wheels.

We believe that the community will require this going forward. According to Angela Shaw, co-founder of Innovative Community Concepts, “we don’t see brick and mortars coming out to this area.”

There isn’t a single food store within a mile of where I am—on the corner of Ringo and Daisy Bates. This is referred to as a “food desert,” and the group intends to alleviate food insecurity in these areas using the grant funds.

Lower-class neighborhoods are more likely to have food deserts, which is why Shaw claimed these areas require access to reasonably priced, wholesome food.

A grocery shopping experience is necessary for the people living in these regions, even when food can be delivered, according to Rhonda Kimble, co-founder of Innovative Community Concepts.

Kimble stated, “They want to feel their groceries.” “They want to smell them and look at them.”

Shaw stated that one might anticipate the opening of these mobile grocery stores in approximately a year.
