Little Rock’s Awareness Center hosts Save the Rock event
Little Rock, Arkansas – The mayor spent Saturday afternoon discussing ways to prevent youth violence with other local and community leaders.
The Awareness Center on 12th Street presented the event, Help Save the Rock, which brought together a panel of youth program administrators from all throughout the city.
By offering parents information and constructive activities for youth, they addressed the demand for safe spaces and parental support.
“In our city, our state, and our country, illegal firearms are too easily accessible,” stated Mayor Frank Scott, Jr.
According to Keith Tucker, Jr., the event’s founder, they hope to highlight year-round programming that kids can take part in.
Tucker stated, “We want to raise awareness of those programs and let people know that they are offered every year and that your child is welcome to come and take part.”
As the school year draws to a close, organizers of Help Save the Rock are also urging corporate executives to give young people their first jobs.
