Major Arkadelphia roadway to be closed for a year
Arkadelphia, Arkansas – For a period of almost a year, a major highway in Arkadelphia will be restricted to some residents.
City officials have announced that starting on July 29th, Walnut Street at 10th and Highway 67 will be blocked.
Residents on Walnut Street and even Wade Street will be impacted by this.
Nonetheless, Gary Brinkley, the city manager of Arkadelphia, stated that modifications will be implemented, like rerouting traffic and permitting only individuals to pass in order to reach their residences. The road will be better in the end, according to Brinkley.
“Patience,” Brinkley said. “All growth has pain, and this is a part of it.”
He explained that the closure is necessary to protect the workers’ safety while they install water and sewage pipes and remove the bridge to make room for expansion.
Additionally, he claimed that it will create a long, wide bypass space for vehicles that require it, such as log trucks, and save time.
Homeowners claimed that since it will be closed for a year, they will be directly impacted and are frustrated.
