‘Mathletes’ face-off in Little Rock competition
Little Rock, Arkansas – The rivalry in mathematics heated up Wednesday night in Little Rock as 25 teams put their skills to the test.
Jason Crader, a math instructor at Carver Magnet School, developed the “Mathletes” competition to help his students get ready for benchmark tests.
From its inception 18 years ago, Mathletes has been made available to all Little Rock School District schools.
At Henderson Teaching and Learning Center on Barrow Road, a competition between third and fourth graders was held.
“We let kids shine in sports, we let kids shine in the arts,” Crader said. “This gives kids who are gifted in mathematics a chance to shine.”
The winning Roberts Elementary team from Wednesday is team two.
