Pine Bluff man taken into custody after a security check for allegedly driving a stolen vehicle
Pine Bluff, Arkansas – Authorities were able to make an arrest over the weekend in connection with a stolen vehicle. The man they took into custody was determined to be driving a vehicle that had previously been reported stolen.
The 41-year-old man, Jason Rhodes of Pine Bluff, was arrested on Saturday at approximately 10:55 p.m. by a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy who was performing a security check on U.S. 79 south at the Dollar General store.
Authorities said that at the moment of the arrest, Rhodes was seen standing next to the door of the stolen GMC. According to the report, investigators have not yet questioned Rhodes because he requested the presence of a lawyer.
Court records show that Rhodes has a long history of breaking the law, including time spent in jail for drug-related charges.
After determining that there was probable cause to charge Rhodes with theft by receiving, the district judge in Pine Bluff, John Kearney, set Rhodes’ bail at $10,000 and ordered him to appear in court on December 9th.
