Pope County Sheriff’s Office receives an armored vehicle donation from Entergy Arkansas power plant
Little Rock, Arkansas – Entergy’s Arkansas Nuclear One (ANO) power plant has generously donated to the Pope County Sheriff’s office.
The major gift was made possible by the office’s demonstration of its commitment to the community and its development of partnerships with local authorities.
Law enforcement operations will make use of the armored SWAT truck.
“We are honored that we’re able to support local law enforcement with this donation,” said Dough Pehrson, ANO site vice president. “And we are proud to power life by supporting our community in this way.”
“Lenco Bearcat” is the name given to the wheeled SWAT vehicle. The vehicle is “based on a Ford F-550 Super Duty commercial truck chassis with a diesel engine, and a six-speed automatic transmission,” according to Entergy Arkansas, and is built for use by the military and police enforcement.
“We are grateful for this generous donation to our department,” said Sheriff Shane Jones. “Not only will this vehicle allow the sheriff’s office to respond to events in Pope County, but it will also allow us to respond to a potential event at Arkansas Nuclear One.”
