Positivity rate over 17% as Arkansas sets new record in number of hospitalizations, daily Covid-19 report

Little Rock, Arkansas – The number of hospitalized and patients on ventilators is still on the rise despite the improvement in vaccination in Arkansas.
According to Arkansas Department of Health, the state recorded 856 new positive cases on Monday and 31 additional deaths.
Since the start of the pandemic, Arkansas recorded a total of 6,498 Covid-19 related deaths while 420,663 people tested positive on the virus.
Currently, there are 24,098 active cases which is 1,637 less compared to Sunday.
1,459 people are hospitalized which is new record since the start of the pandemic. 323 patients are not ventilator support.
Pulaski County reported the most cases yesterday, 140. The second county was Benton with 85, while third was Craighead with 82 positive cases.

Today’s report shows another high day of hospitalizations and deaths from COVID. Our vaccine numbers are up from last week, a trend that needs to continue. As many children across Arkansas head back to school today, I am praying for a safe and productive year.
