Jonesboro, Arkansas – Two Jonesboro establishments are getting closer to serving alcohol.

On Tuesday, June 4, the Jonesboro City Council heard two applications for private club permits.

The first resolution dealt with an application for the La Torcia Brick Oven Pizza at 604 East Highland Drive submitted by Brick Oven of Jonesboro, Inc.

At the resolution’s first reading on Tuesday, May 21, a council member said the restaurant’s location is near to the All Saints Lutheran Church and School on Rains Street.

While the restaurant’s site was once part of the property, other council members stated that Brick Oven of Jonesboro, Inc. purchased it and that the new owners were aware of the permission.

A third reading of the La Torcia Brick Oven Pizza resolution was scheduled.

The Arts Annex Inc. at 330 South Main Street was the subject of the second application.

In response to a question concerning how much would be served at the Arts if permission were granted, representatives stated that just Friday and Saturday nights would be provided, along with a restricted menu and limited access to alcohol.

Officials added that there isn’t a kitchen established right now and that they are awaiting state guidelines on what counts as a kitchen and how food should be prepared there.

A third reading of the Arts Annex Inc. application was scheduled.

On Tuesday, June 18, the Jonesboro City Council will convene once more.
