Storm damage and thousands of lost power connections in Arkansas reported on Monday
Little Rock, Arkansas – Thousands of people were without power Tuesday afternoon as a result of the tremendous damage that storms that swept through Arkansas on Monday did throughout the state.
PowerOutages.US stated that as of 12:35 p.m., 5,373 Arkansans were still without power, with Ashley County reporting the majority of the outages.
Ashley County’s Montrose, a city, was left with storm-related damage to homes, uprooted trees, and trash.
The storms also caused damage to communities in the counties of Garland and Arkansas. The Garland County Sheriff’s Office said that 14 residences, three businesses, and seven schools were damaged along Highway 7.
Overnight, DeWitt received at least one foot of rain. On Wednesday morning, water started to retreat from the surrounding neighborhood. Photos shot during the storms show yards, roads, and fields covered.
Tuesday is when the state should see the last of the rain. Sunlight will return as the week goes on and last through the weekend.
