Taylen Green aims for a powerful performance against Missouri
Fayetteville, Arkansas – Taylen Green made the move to Arkansas from Boise State after the 2023 season and has showcased some impressive performances with the Hogs.
Green has faced challenges as well, occasionally committing turnovers that have raised concerns. He has successfully completed 198 out of 325 passes, accumulating a total of 2,584 yards, with 13 touchdowns and 9 interceptions to his name. Green has made 127 carries, accumulating 468 yards and scoring 7 touchdowns.
Green and the Hogs are set to face off against No. 23 Missouri this Saturday in Columbia. Snow is predicted in the weather forecast. If snow does fall, Green will be quite familiar with playing in those conditions.
“I certainly have,” Green stated. “I would say that by October, most of the games on the West Coast are quite chilly.” We are engaged in night games, and I have a strong familiarity with them. I participated in a snow game when we faced off against Nevada. We played a game in Wyoming when the temperature dropped to around negative 1, making it quite chilly.
Green enjoyed a fruitful tenure at Boise State. He reserved his finest performance for his last game at Boise State. The event took place during the Mountain West Conference Championship Game. Green played a pivotal role in guiding Boise State to victory over UNLV. He successfully completed 12 out of 15 passes, accumulating 226 yards and throwing 2 touchdowns. He made 8 carries, gaining 90 yards and scoring 2 touchdowns. During his time at Boise State, Green played in 28 games, starting in 22 of them. He accumulated a total of 3,794 passing yards, throwing 25 touchdowns while also recording 15 interceptions. Green achieved a remarkable total of 1,024 rushing yards along with 19 touchdowns. What are the essential factors for a quarterback to achieve success in snowy conditions?
“It’s all about concentrating on your footwork and sticking to the basics,” Green stated.
“Everything is in the mind.” It’s impossible to convince yourself that it’s chilly. It’s essential to focus and fully accept the surrounding elements.
Green believes that the equipment staff at Arkansas will ensure a dry ball for both him and the Hogs.
“I believe our equipment staff does an excellent job of ensuring the balls stay dry,” Green stated.
“Our ability to perform our tasks effectively relies heavily on the support of our equipment staff, and I want to acknowledge their hard work and dedication.”
In a snowy showdown, Green and Boise State triumphed over Nevada with a decisive score of 41-3. Green discussed the factors that contributed to his success and that of the team.
“I suggest you get warmed up on the sidelines, and once you’re in the game, you won’t be focused on it,” Green stated. “However, when you’re on the sidelines, you take the time to warm your feet and hands, ensuring you’re ready to lock in once you step onto the field.” It’s often not as chilly as it appears, that’s my perspective. Everything is in the mind.
Green has yet to step onto the field in Columbia, but he is eager for Saturday’s game.
“It’s an excellent chance to compete in a fantastic venue, experiencing another SEC atmosphere, which is truly thrilling,” Green stated. “Given the weather conditions, everyone is saying it’s perfect for football.” We are truly looking forward to the chance and are actively preparing. Their football team is impressive, particularly their defense, which we were just discussing. They demonstrate remarkable cohesion in their gameplay. This presents an excellent opportunity.
There was considerable discussion during the preseason regarding Bobby Petrino’s collaboration with Green to refine his technique. Green believes that Petrino’s approach is proving effective for him.
“I believe I’ve made significant progress compared to my previous state, yet I still feel there’s room for greater consistency and improvement,” Green stated. “One should never overlook the basics, as they will carry you far in your journey.” I firmly believe that the way you handle the small tasks reflects your approach to everything else. Coach Petrino continues to emphasize the importance of maintaining proper positioning and clean footwork in the pocket, even today.
Green inquired about any additional aspects that Petrino is collaborating with him on.
“It’s all about timing, aligning my vision with my footwork, and ensuring I’m in sync with my receivers,” Green stated. “The most important factor is when I’m in rhythm and we have excellent chemistry; my percentage, as Petrino points out, tends to be very high.” This week is all about a significant focus on that aspect.
Green has consistently favored wide receiver Andrew Armstrong as his top target. Although he missed the season opener, Armstrong has recorded 69 receptions for 1,012 yards and 1 touchdown.
“This really highlights his strong work ethic,” Green remarked. “Many observe him during games, but few recognize the effort he puts in off the field, particularly in the training room, where he focuses on getting his body in top shape.” He is present each morning and prior to practice without fail. Executing all of that during the game. As week 12 arrives, your body may not feel at its peak, yet he maintains his health effectively. He showcases remarkable versatility on the field, whether he’s playing inside or outside, running deep routes, and more. I feel an immense sense of pride in that achievement, but if he were present at this moment, he would express that his journey is far from complete. That’s what makes it thrilling.
Green and the Razorbacks are part of the travel squad. This Saturday presents an opportunity for Arkansas to achieve a historic victory in Columbia, something that has yet to be accomplished.
“Our focus will be on what we can manage, and we’ll see how everything unfolds,” Green stated. “This presents an excellent chance to achieve that.”
Arkansas (6-5, 3-4) is set to face off against Missouri (8-3, 4-3) at 2:30, with the game being broadcast on the SEC Network.
