The $320 million expansion of Southland Casino Hotel is finished
Little Rock, Arkansas – The $320 million Southland Casino expansion in West Memphis features a brand-new 300-room, 20-story hotel with 12 penthouse suites as well as a 113,000-square-foot gaming floor with 2,400 slot machines, 50 live table games, and a number of bars and restaurants.
With the completion of the three-year makeover, the former racetrack’s transition into a full-fledged Las Vegas-style casino attraction with a luxury hotel, which began with the inclusion of 750 gaming machines 16 years ago, is complete.
As one of its dozen gambling enterprises in the United States and Australia, Delaware North, a leader in the hospitality and entertainment sectors, owns and runs Southland.
“The Southland expansion is the culmination of a legacy project for Delaware North,” said Delaware North CEO Lou Jacobs. “The completion puts Southland on the map as a true casino destination that will draw patrons from both near and far.”
The Southland Casino Hotel is eager to serve both its devoted gaming patrons and new visitors from nearby communities including Memphis, Little Rock, Nashville, northern Alabama, and St. Louis. It is only a few feet away from the new, large casino floor and new bars and restaurants.
Memphis Tourism has acknowledged Southland as a top amenity for tourists visiting the Mid-South and well-known Memphis attractions like Graceland and Beale Street.
Osi Imomoh, a new president and general manager of Southland Casino Hotel, began his career as the company’s director of food and beverage before moving up to general manager positions with Delaware North, notably at Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack.
The old Jumer’s Casino & Hotel, Isle of Capri Casinos, and Delaware North’s Gaming Entertainment Management in Illinois are more employers of the industry veteran.
The celebration of the completion of the expansion culminates with a collaboration with Pepsi for the “New Year, New Ride” competition, which offers $250,000 in prizes, the top prize of which is a brand-new Ford F-150.
Members of the Lucky North Club, a rewards club that offers points to gamers at Southland Casino Hotel, are required to enter. Between December 25 and December 31, 2022, Southland will select players each night for a chance to win.
