The Arkansas farmer’s market is doing well as the price and demand for eggs rise

Benton, Arkansas – According to the US Department of Agriculture, the ongoing bird flu outbreak that started in 2022 is the cause of the rise in egg costs.

According to Mary Admire of Benton’s Front Porch Market, the price and demand for eggs have improved farmer’s market sales.

“Eggs have been in such high demand,” Admire stated. “We had eggs flying.”

In addition to the rising cost of eggs, there is a limit on how many cartons you may purchase at stores like Costco and Trader Joe’s.

“That hasn’t been necessary yet. However, since everyone is considerate of others as our clients, I don’t think we’ll need to,” Admire stated.

Although the price disparity is narrowing, Admire expressed her hope that consumers will be able to see the wider picture.

According to Admire, “some of these outrageous prices would really turn around if people started focusing more on small business and your local Mom and Pop.”

Last month, the U.S. Department of Agriculture similarly forecast that this year’s egg costs would probably increase by 20%.
