This weekend is National Drug Take Back Day
Jonesboro, Arkansas – Officers from Jonesboro Police will erect a stand outside Sam’s Club and the police department to pick up any unwanted or expired prescription drugs.
Saturday, October 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. is the DEA’s National Drug Take Back Day.
Needles are not permitted, but drugs, including prescription and over-the-counter pharmaceuticals, can be dropped off for appropriate disposal.
Every year, there are two Drug Take Back Days across the country.
According to Sally Smith, a public information specialist, the JPD drop-box is open to the public at all times.
“We have collected 844 pounds of drugs so far this year from people dropping them off at our box,” Smith stated.
According to Smith, it’s not a good idea to dispose of outdated medications in the trash.
Anything discarded in the trash might be used or sold, she suggested.
