Through the provision of more than 29,000 complimentary meals in 2024, Grace Community Church combats food hunger in the Natural State

Ward, Arkansas – A local church has been fighting back by providing weekly meals through its food ministry, despite the fact that the Natural State is now the state with the highest rate of food insecurity in the country.

In 2024, the food ministry at Grace Community Church provided 29,058 free meals, which is almost as many as the populations of Cabot and Jacksonville, according to a Facebook post.
Every Tuesday, the food ministry collaborates with Jacksonville’s Fishnet Missions to transform saved food into meals that feature dishes like enchilada casserole, pork chops, and biscuits, and gravy.

“We’re working hard to combat food insecurity in our community, whether it’s serving hot meals, passing out donated groceries, or sending our youth group kids home with snack bags,” the post stated.

The church offered more than 700 meals in most weeks, but the week before Thanksgiving, they broke a new record by serving 801 dinners of bread, corn, yams, chicken and dressing, and dessert.

Meal service will start up again on Tuesday, January 7. For additional information on the church, go to DiscoverGrace.tv.
