UAMS is utilizing mobile units to increase rural Arkansasns’ access to reproductive healthcare
Little Rock, Arkansas – UAMS will reach out to women in Arkansas’s rural areas through mobile units.
The goal, according to UAMS officials, is to increase access to women’s healthcare in every area of Arkansas and prevent unwanted pregnancies by using four distinct mobile units for fourteen different rural counties.
The units will offer a variety of healthcare treatments, including a full spectrum of contraceptives, cervical cancer tests, and STI testing.
“Contraceptive access is a real important part of public health,” Mobile Health Programs Director Kelly Conroy said.
According to UAMS officials, making connections with neighborhood organizations and establishing long-term access to reproductive care for women living in such rural areas is another objective of the tour.
Reproductive care will now be provided by these mobile units, which were previously utilized for preventive and prenatal care.
