While we are still getting used to 5G, China tested 6G speeds and by far outperforms the 5G
China has realized the world’s fastest real-time transmission for terahertz wireless communication (THz), which is 10 to 20 times larger than 5G networks, Purple Mountain Laboratory announced.
With a home-grown 360-430 GHz wireless communications system, Nanjing, a high-tech lab in the eastern Chinese province of Jiangsu, has achieved 6G-oriented 100-200 Gbps (gigabits per second) of THz in real time, CRI Online reports.
Zhou Xiao, the lab’s lead researcher, noted that terahertz transmission technologies are essential for 6G networks and will be widely used to deliver faster transmissions to new types of applications such as AR, VR and meta versus.
“In addition, terahertz technologies can also be used extensively in space and inter-satellite communications, and eventually integrated space-land-sea communications,” he added.
