Little Rock, Arkansas – Little Rock is offering 16 new opportunities for low-income families to own their homes. The city’s Department of Housing and Neighborhoods initiated the construction of these homes, breaking ground this Tuesday in the 1400 block of Bowers Lane.

This initiative aligns with the city’s broader objective of expanding affordable housing options, particularly in areas that have traditionally been underserved. The aim is to promote community development and ensure that everyone, regardless of their financial status, has a chance to own a home.

Kevin Howard, the Program Director, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, highlighting its impact on potential homeowners. He remarked, “It makes me feel great to see someone that normally wouldn’t be able to afford a house like this to get in a home.” He further emphasized the added advantage of families being able to move into these homes with “no money down.”

Importantly, the funding driving this commendable initiative comes from the federal Home Investment Partnership Program. The endeavor not only provides shelter but also instills a sense of belonging and pride among the beneficiaries.
