Simmons Bank resumes normal operations in Pine Bluff
Pine Bluff, Arkansas – Pulaski County faced a significant challenge earlier this year. Severe storms and tornadoes on March 31, 2023, led to extensive damage across the county. Among the severely affected establishments was the Simmons Bank branch located at 10300 N Rodney Parham Road in Little Rock. The intensity of the damage was such that the Arkansas Bank Commissioner and the Governor had to declare a State of Emergency for Pulaski County on April 5, 2023.
In the aftermath of this disaster, an executive decision was made by the Commissioner to close the Simmons Bank’s branch in Pine Bluff. This decision, grounded by the provisions of A.C.A. §23-46-212(d)(l)(B), was set to last for 120 days from the day of the declaration. However, as the county grappled with the aftermath, an extension of 60 days was announced on July 26, 2023.
After months of recovery and rebuilding efforts, there’s now good news for the residents of Pulaski County. As of October 2, 2023, the Pine Bluff branch of Simmons Bank has resumed its regular operations. This marks the end of the disruptions brought about by the natural calamities earlier in the year.
To affirm this recovery, Susannah T. Marshall, the Bank Commissioner, put pen to paper on October 5, 2023, in Little Rock. By signing the termination of the closure order, she signified the return to business as usual for the Simmons Bank branch in Little Rock, Arkansas. This move not only marks the resilience of the bank but also stands testament to the indomitable spirit of Pulaski County and its residents.
