Hot Springs Village’s community radio station is assisting locals following the EF-2 tornado
Hot Springs Village, Arkansas – Following the tornado on Thursday night, a Hot Springs Village community radio station is stepping up to keep people informed and safe.
On Friday, reporters inside The Village’s gates opened their phones to provide residents with real-time information on the EF-2 tornado’s aftermath.
The station took calls for updates on traffic conditions and responses from both residents and local officials.
The family-run station’s general manager, Alice Bates, stated that since the storm, the staff has been providing updates to the public.
“This is what we do,” Bates said. “This is the business we’re in and this is what we’re supposed to do, is to serve the public.”
1,400 people in Garland County were still without power as of Saturday morning due to the ongoing cleanup efforts in Hot Springs Village.
